It is in these moments that I become fully aware of why music is so important, because it encompasses emotion in a way that words alone cannot.

At the ceremony today I tried to remember the lyrics to this song and realized I couldn’t, which was shocking because didn’t think I’d ever be able to forget them after I learned how to sing them. This song has never stopped being meaningful to me. It is probably the most important part of my personal musical history. Listening to it again, it kind of overwhelms me how absolutely beautiful it is even with the imperfections in the recording, and how perfectly it articulates the feeling of loss.
